Success Story
After spending 18 years as a well-respected bartender in family targeted restaurants I was given the opportunity to work at Siemens Energy Company. After a short time as the Receiving Department/ Inventory Manager Assistant I worked my way into the Procurement Specialist position. With my extensive understanding of computer systems, I was tasked with creating new processes documents for several departments. Due to my ability to multitask I have been given other projects on top of my daily duties that were not required of my predecessor. When it comes to working with a team, I am an exceptional leader and have no problem letting someone else take the lead when necessary. I have been a great asset to Siemens Energy Company with a cost saving of $20,000.00 in my first year as Procurement Specialist. This was achieved by implementing new practices. My first accomplishment was putting into place the cleaning and reuse of safety PPE used by our drivers and guest. By sanitizing the PPE and reusing them I saved the company $14,400 in a twelve-month period. The second thing was to clean up the departments. I found electronics that were not being used and was able to repurpose them throughout the warehouse which saved the company $6,580. I am currently working on a new project which includes purchasing a cardboard shredder that turns double wall boxes into reusable packaging. With an average of 250 small packages a day not only will this save money on packaging but will limit waste at our facility. With my dedication to continue to grow and learn every day brings new ideas of sustainability and cost saving. I am extremely proud of where I am today as a professional and as a genuine human being.
